Dr. Dan Andersen

Dan is a doctor of gerontology and a certified aging-in-place specialist (CAPS), and is passionate about helping older adults to achieve their highest level of functioning, meet their individual goals, and remain in their homes and communities for as long as possible.

Dan spent a career in healthcare research, including at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, focused on healthcare quality, especially in the post-acute and long-term care settings. His academic, government, and private consulting jobs emphasized for him that people thrive best in the place that they know, surrounded by their family, friends, and community supports that have been created over time, often over many decades. Dan founded Andersen Home Advantage LLC in 2018 to provide consultation services to older adults, their loved ones, and their caregivers, by helping them navigate the complex web of services as well as the many challenges to the older adult population’s desire to “age in place”. He has also worked with developers, planners, and local governments to create environments that foster aging in place or an environment for people of all ages and abilities.

Dan noticed that there were many websites selling products for aging in place, but they all had limitations, such as lack of information on products’ evidence, poor organization that forces consumers to navigate the terminology and jargon used in the medical field, high prices, and questionable claims of effectiveness. Missing from all the existing sites is information on integrative health/medicine that are necessary compliments for anyone looking to live their best life.

Optimal Aging Solutions was created to address these needs. Dan is thrilled to be joined by his long-term colleagues and friends in this venture.
